Gender stereotypes: constructive and destructive manifestations

Gender stereotypes are to be seen as social phenomenon, considering the mechanisms of their development. This phenomenon has a number of functions rather neutral in nature. However gender stereotypes acquire new contents under the influence of contemporary cultural, economic, political and ideological conditions. Thus social shifts in society inevitably change the content and nature of gender stereotypes that may lay both constructive and destructive role.
