Specificity of the use of methods of visual sociology in studying a military organization

The author clarifies the innovative potential of the methods of visual sociology in the study of the sociocultural field of a military organization and studies the peculiarities of the culture of military formations, by analyzing the military photos made during the First and Second World wars, photos of servicemeninternationalists, veterans of Afganistan, and participants of the Chechnya companies. The photos taken from the archives of contemporary military units reflect the structural elements of the army everyday life, symbols, rituals, and traditions of a military organization.
