Forms and factors of modification of power relations in hybrid ecosystem of the metaverse

5

This article is devoted to identifying the factors and forms of modification of property relations within the hybrid space of the socio-technological ecosystem of the metaverse. The author reveals that the phenomenon of the metaverse’s new reality initially manifested itself as the virtual space of a multi-user online game. Subsequently, metaverse technologies transcended the narrow confines of the purely gaming realm and formed a unique emergent (synthetic) ecosystem: a hybrid economic space of social and activity-based interaction which, much like market relations in the real world, is based on the fundamental institutions of value and property. It has been established that, in contrast to the technological aspects, the socio-economic functioning of this hybrid space-time has received little research attention. This has led to numerous conflicts over property rights, both within platform-based metaworlds and within the traditional market economy. The paper examines the specific features of the exercise of governmental power. It identifies the factors driving changes in property relations within the hybrid ecosystem of the metaverse, considering the emergence of a new quality of productive forces and the trend towards increased capitalisation of digital market assets. It is demonstrated that, in the context of Ukraine’s European integration, the priority areas for regulating property rights in the emerging ecosystem are the gradual harmonisation of regulatory mechanisms with EU standards to ‘seamless’ integration into the European market at various levels within the framework of the EU’s Digital Decade Policy programme up to 2030. It has been established that the leading political-economic schools possess sufficient creative potential to adequately comprehend the socio-economic nature of the metaverse’s hybrid space-time. They are capable of fulfilling this mission on the methodological basis of economic value, with a view to substantiating the foundations for the development of a harmonious institutional architecture of economic management.
